UNHAS Schools of Professional Studies Begin Preparations for Their 40th Anniversary; Dean Emphasizes Integrity and Tangible Impact

MAKASSAR — The Graduate School of Hasanuddin University (SPs UNHAS) has begun preparing for its 40th Anniversary event series through the inaugural committee meeting held on Tuesday (Oct. 6) at the Prof. Dr. Ir. Fachruddin Auditorium. This meeting marks the first step in ensuring the committee's readiness while mapping out the direction of the activities to be carried out to commemorate four decades of the UNHAS Graduate School's journey.

During the meeting, the Dean of SPs UNHAS, Prof. Dr. Sukri Palutturi, SKM., M.Kes., M.Sc.PH., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of responsibility and integrity for all committee members who have been appointed through the Committee Decree (SK).

"Our names listed in the decree represent a mandate. Therefore, our presence demonstrates our integrity," said Prof. Sukri.

In line with this, the inaugural meeting also served as a momentum to evaluate the readiness of each committee element. The attendance of the committee members was one of the aspects highlighted to ensure that every member understands their roles and responsibilities in preparing for the 40th Anniversary series.

Aside from the technical aspects of the committee, Prof. Sukri also directed that activities related to community service should not stop at mere counseling or educational outreach. According to him, community service programs need to be directed towards mapping the actual problems faced by the community, followed by actions that provide solutions and a real impact.

"It is fine to have counseling, but it must be followed by real action," he explained.

One of the examples mentioned was the planting of Cavendish banana trees. This activity is not only intended as a form of educational outreach for the community but can also be developed by assessing the needs and problems in the field, ensuring that the activities conducted provide directly tangible benefits.

This direction is part of the effort to make the SPs UNHAS 40th Anniversary series not just a momentum to commemorate the institution's journey, but also a space to present relevant contributions to the community.

This inaugural meeting subsequently serves as a foundation for the committee to finalize the concepts, task delegations, and the series of activities for the 40th Anniversary. With the collaboration of all elements involved, SPs UNHAS is preparing to celebrate the institution's four decades with a spirit of togetherness, integrity, and contributions that deliver a real impact.
