Achieving sustainable agriculture is one of the challenges in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. On the one hand, Indonesian agriculture must support the existence of farming households that operate under non-capitalist production systems. On the other hand, capitalist production systems continue to expand by utilizing the natural resources and landscapes of the Indonesian Maritime Continent. In this context, knowledge and expertise are essential to maintaining the coexistence of capitalist and non-capitalist agricultural systems. The Doctoral Program (S3) in Agricultural Sciences at the Graduate School (SPS) of Hasanuddin University (Unhas) aims to address these challenges. This study program uses a multidisciplinary approach to understand agricultural realities and promote sustainable agricultural development.
STUDY PROGRAM VISION
"Center of education, research, and development in sustainable agricultural science" means that the Doctoral Program (S3) in Agricultural Sciences at the Graduate School of Hasanuddin University serves as a center for preserving, developing, discovering, creating, and sharing sustainable agricultural science and technology.
"Based on the Indonesian Maritime Continent (BMI)" means that the Doctoral Program in Agricultural Sciences at Hasanuddin University focuses its academic studies on the unique characteristics of the Indonesian Maritime Continent ecosystem. BMI is defined as "a natural unity of land, sea, and the atmosphere above them, uniquely structured and displaying continental characteristics in terms of climate and weather (climatology and meteorology), ocean conditions (oceanography), the Earth's crust (geology), biological diversity (biology), and social and cultural systems (sociology and anthropology), all within the jurisdiction of the Republic of Indonesia."
"Contributing to national competitiveness" means that graduates, research findings, and the application of sustainable agricultural science and technology are expected to improve community welfare, support environmental sustainability at the national level, and strengthen Indonesia's competitiveness internationally.
MISSION
To provide research-based doctoral education in agricultural sciences that is competitive at both national and international levels.
To conduct agricultural research focusing on the unique characteristics of the Indonesian Maritime Continent, contributing to advances in knowledge and technology.
To apply agricultural science and technology for the benefit and well-being of the nation.
OBJECTIVES
To produce doctoral graduates in agricultural sciences who are competitive at national and international levels.
To discover and advance agricultural knowledge and technology through research published internationally.
To solve agricultural problems using interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches through community service.
TARGETS
To increase the number of graduates who are creative and innovative in developing agricultural knowledge and technology;
To increase the number of agricultural research findings published in reputable international journals;
To increase the application of agricultural science and technology that benefits community welfare and environmental sustainability.
