Monitoring & Evaluation of the PMDSU Scholarship Program batch IV & batch V

Monitoring and Evaluation of the PMDSU Scholarship Program was held on Friday, 4 November 2022, from 08:30 WITA until completion, at the GB Building 2nd Floor Meeting Room, Graduate School of Unhas.

This event was organized by the team of promoters and students receiving the PMDSU Scholarship batch IV and batch V at the Unhas Graduate School, with speakers Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, DESS., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng. (UGM), Dr. rer. nat. Rino Rakhmata Mukti (ITB), as well as Juniarti Dwi Lestari, S.Sos., M.Pd., and the team from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

The event was opened by the Dean of the Unhas Graduate School, Prof. dr. Budu, Ph.D., Sp.M(K)., M.MedEd., followed by remarks from Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, DESS., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng. The Ministry team's representative, Ms. Juniarti Dwi Lestari, S.Sos., M.Pd., then explained that by the end of 2022 the selection of PMDSU promoters and students would be conducted strictly, with progress monitored every semester through the PMDSU website.

Furthermore, this event was also held to discuss the ongoing progress of the PMDSU scholarship program and to address the challenges faced by both the promoters and the students receiving the PMDSU Scholarship batch IV and batch V.

This year, batch IV took part in the PKPI (Overseas Doctoral Research Program) for 4 to 6 months at several universities abroad. The briefing was held in Jakarta, sending off 37 students from across Indonesia. Dr. rer. nat. Rino Rakhmata Mukti further explained that the PMDSU website and social media are still awaiting contributions from other students to publish their journal articles. Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, DESS., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng., added that the promoter team, together with the institution, must have a specific strategy in their respective fields, must understand and know how to achieve the Q3 and Q4 index empowered by Unhas. This can happen if lecturers and their publications are strong, as students will then follow suit.

Based on data from the Ministry team's representative, Ms. Juniarti Dwi Lestari, S.Sos., M.Pd., there are still PMDSU batch IV students who have not yet graduated, to which Prof. Baharuddin, ST., M.Arch., Ph.D. (Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Unhas Graduate School) responded that, for the time being, they would continue to make payments independently.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., who also attended the monitoring and evaluation of the PMDSU Scholarship Program, suggested that there should be a reward or special administrative compensation for PMDSU students who manage to graduate within 2 years and 4 months, to which Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, DESS., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng., responded that this would need to be considered.
